Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. Here are answers to the most common questions clients ask:
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or noticing patterns you’d like to change. Many of my clients come to therapy because of relationship struggles, anxiety, low self-esteem, or unresolved childhood wounds. If you’re wondering whether therapy could help, you’re in the right place.
What can I expect in the first session?
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’re hoping to gain, and any questions you have. I’ll also share more about how I work so you can get a feel for whether it’s a good fit.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
Every person’s journey is unique. Some clients find relief in just a few months, while others benefit from longer-term work, especially when healing from trauma or attachment wounds. Together, we’ll create a plan that fits your goals and needs.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy for clients in Nevada and California. Virtual sessions allow you to access therapy from the comfort of your home while maintaining privacy and flexibility.
Where are you located?
I am based in Reno, Nevada and offer in-person sessions in Midtown off Plumb & Plumas, and virtual sessions for clients throughout Nevada and California.
What therapy approaches do you utilize?
I integrate several evidence-based approaches, including:
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): for trauma, phobias, and painful memories
-
IFS (Internal Family Systems): for self-awareness, dissociation, increasing your emotional tolerance and parts work
-
EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy): for individuals wanting to work on connection and attachment
My goal is to tailor therapy to your unique needs.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. This means you pay for sessions directly and may receive reimbursement from your insurance if you have out-of-network benefits. To make this easier, I partner with Thrizer, which submits claims on your behalf so you don’t have to handle superbills or paperwork.
How much do sessions cost?
-
50-minute Individual/EMDR Therapy session: $200
-
50-minute Couple/Family Therapy session: $225
-
60+ minute EMDR extended sessions/Intensives: $300-$1,500
How do I find out if I will be reimbursed for therapy sessions?
If you are unaware of your current insurance coverage, I would recommend utilizing the insurance verification form here, or by calling the number on the back of your insurance and asking about your "Out-of-Network coverage" (Or OON coverage) prior to our consultation.
How Often Will We Meet?
I accept new clients on a weekly or every other week frequency.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum. As progress is made, some shift to every other week. We’ll adjust frequency depending on your goals and needs.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
I ask for 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged the full session fee. This policy protects time I’ve set aside for you and allows space for others who may be waiting.
Can therapy really help me?
Yes. Therapy can’t erase the past, but it can help you change how it impacts you today. Clients often share that they feel more grounded, confident, and connected in their relationships after doing this work. Healing is possible. You don’t have to do it alone.
